House Clearance Glasgow

House clearances across every part of Glasgow, from top floor tenement flats in the West End and the south side to family homes in the east end, handled by a local team that knows the city.

House clearance in Glasgow

Your local clearance team

Glasgow is our home city. Our depot sits on Eastmuir Street in the east end, close to Shettleston and the M8, so our trucks are never far from a job, whether that is a red sandstone tenement in Dennistoun, a semi in Knightswood, a flat in Govanhill or a cottage flat in Carntyne. We work right across the north, south, east and west of the city and in the centre, clearing single rooms, whole houses and everything in between.

A Glasgow house clearance with us starts with photos or a visit, and you get an up-front rate before anyone lifts a thing. On the day we call ahead, then our uniformed, fully insured team takes apart beds and wardrobes, lifts carpets and carries everything down the stair. We set aside anything the family wants to keep, hand over documents, photographs, jewellery or cash we come across, and leave the place swept and tidy, with paperwork once the job is complete.

  • We call ahead on the day so you know when to expect us
  • Up-front rates agreed before any work starts
  • Friendly, uniformed and fully insured team
  • Furniture dismantled and carpets lifted
  • Sweep and tidy once the property is empty
  • Over 90% of what we collect is reused or recycled
  • Registered waste carrier, so your waste is handled legally
  • We do not remove asbestos or hazardous waste

Local know-how

Clearing a home in Glasgow

What to know before you clear a property in Glasgow, and why most people find one visit from our team easier than doing it themselves.

One team, one visit

Emptying a Glasgow flat on your own usually means borrowing a car, queuing at a recycling centre and climbing the same close stairs over and over. When we take on the job, a single crew loads the whole household onto our truck and drives it to our east end depot, where it is sorted for reuse, charity and recycling. Over 90% of what we collect avoids landfill, and you are not left with a hallway full of bin bags afterwards.

Doing it yourself

Glasgow City Council runs three household recycling centres: Dawsholm in the west, Polmadie on the south side and Shieldhall in the south west. They are only for Glasgow residents. You can turn up in a car without booking, but a van is only allowed in at Shieldhall and Dawsholm, and only at set times. The east end no longer has a site, because Easter Queenslie has closed, so people near our depot face a longer drive.

Tenements, closes and stairs

Much of Glasgow lives in tenements, from Partick and Hyndland to Shawlands, Govanhill and Dennistoun, and most have a shared close and a common stair with no lift. We carry wardrobes, mattresses and fridges down three or four flights without scraping the walls, and we keep the close clear for neighbours while we work. Let us know about parking permits or controlled zones near the address and we will plan where the truck waits.

I have used the company 3 times. June 24 Jan25 and March25 On each occasion parts of my garden wall suffered storm damage and I needed a large number of bricks removed at short notice. I have spoken to Tracey and Joanna on the phone both of whom are courteous, friendly, helpful and efficient. They both function with confidence and competence. On the first 2 occasions the men arrived promptly, worked hard removed bricks and rubble and swept up. Each job took about 30 minutes. Excellent! On the last visit Tracey kindly arranged for men to arrive at 9 00 am. At 9 30 there was no sign of them. I phoned and Joanna said she would find out what had happened. She phoned back within 5 minutes with an answer and the men arrived shortly afterwards and did a fine job. I have nothing but admiration for Jettison and all the people I have dealt with. My Jettison experience was efficient and easy start to finish. They viewed the storage container I wanted cleared and were able price up and clear the following day. Super professional and helpful!
Was recommended to use Jettison for office furniture removal and on contacting them I spoke to Ross the MD who was happy to view that afternoon and we agreed a date for early following week which they carried out yesterday! Was a fast, friendly and very professional service from start to finish. Took away what furniture and rubbish they had to and left the offices looking very neat and tidy - I am well impressed and would very much recommend them. Reasonably priced too for what they had to take away. Thank You so much for your brilliant services.

We needed tons of junk to be removed quickly as we were moving house. I made a last minute request to ‘Get shot of all the junk’ . Thankfully Tracy at Jettison were happy to help and arranged collection early the next morning on the day of our move to ensure everything was cleared before new buyers moved into our Glasgow house. Friendly helpful team, reasonable price for the service. Would definitely recommend Jettison express for a quick house clearance.

From start to finish the whole process was very simple. I needed my flat clearing asap. I got in touch with Ross by leaving a message early evening and was delighted to get a call back the same night. First load was collected right on the dot a few days later. David and his workmate cleared the load efficiently making sure they didn't take anything I didn't want them to! Same with the second load. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use these guys again. Top notch.

I needed to have big furniture pieces removed from my flat quite quickly, I phoned and the guys came the next day. They were really friendly and everything was gone within 10 mins. The prices were fair and I was really happy to hear that they would try to find a new home for everything rather than taking things to the rubbish tip. Very pleased, would definitely use again!

Questions

Glasgow house clearance FAQs

How much does a house clearance in Glasgow cost?
There is no flat fee, because no two homes are alike. The price is set by the volume to be cleared, what the items are and how easy the access is, so a fourth floor tenement with a long carry is priced differently from a ground floor flat with parking at the door. Send us photos or book a visit and we will agree an up-front rate with you before any work begins.
Can you clear a top floor tenement flat with no lift?
Yes, this is everyday work for us in Glasgow. We bring enough people to pass furniture safely down the common stair, dismantle anything too big to turn on a landing and protect the banisters and walls of the close as we go. Tell us which floor the flat is on and whether there is a back court or bin store we can use, and we will plan the job around it.
We are executors and live outside Glasgow. Do we need to be there?
No. Many executors and families who live away hand the keys to us, a neighbour or their solicitor and never need to travel. We agree beforehand what is to be kept, put aside anything personal or valuable we find, lock up when we leave and send you the paperwork. Our guide to who clears a house when someone dies sets out how an executry clearance works in Scotland.
Do you work with landlords and letting agents in Glasgow?
Yes. We carry out void and end of tenancy clearances for landlords, letting agents and housing providers across the city, removing furniture, white goods, carpets and anything a previous tenant left behind. We can collect keys from the letting office, work around the date the next tenant moves in, and leave the flat swept and ready for cleaners or tradespeople.
Can I take a van to a Glasgow recycling centre?
Only at two sites. Shieldhall and Dawsholm accept vans at set times, while Polmadie is for cars. All three are for Glasgow residents only, and the old Easter Queenslie centre in the east end has closed. For a full house, that usually means several car runs, which is why many people ask us to take everything in one go instead.
What do you take, and what can you not take?
We take almost everything you would find in a home: furniture, beds, mattresses, white goods, carpets, books, clothes, kitchenware, and the contents of lofts, sheds and garages. Sofas and armchairs are kept whole and apart from the rest, so they can be sent for the treatment Scottish rules on persistent organic pollutants require. We do not remove asbestos, chemicals, paint, gas bottles or fuel.
What happens to everything after it leaves the house?
It all comes back to our depot on Eastmuir Street in the east end, where it is sorted by hand. Usable furniture and household goods go for reuse or to charity, and metal, wood, textiles and electricals go for recycling, which means over 90% of what we collect is kept out of landfill. We are a registered waste carrier with SEPA, so nothing is ever fly-tipped.
Can you clear a house after an unattended death?
Yes. We carry out unattended death clearances in Glasgow with care and discretion, working alongside families, solicitors and housing providers. We explain what is involved before the day, keep the work as low key as possible for neighbours, and set aside any personal papers, photographs or valuables for the family. Call us and we will talk it through with you before agreeing anything.
