Garden Clearance Glasgow

Overgrown back courts, cluttered suburban gardens and sheds past saving, cleared across Glasgow by a uniformed team from our east end depot, with an up-front rate and green waste sent for composting.

Garden clearance in Glasgow

From tenement back courts to suburban gardens

Glasgow gardens come in two broad types, and we clear both. In the older tenement districts, such as Dennistoun, Partick, Govanhill and Shawlands, the outdoor space is a shared back court behind the close, where old furniture, broken bikes and bags of rubbish tend to gather around the bins. Further out, garden suburbs such as Knightswood and Mosspark, and the bungalow and villa streets of Kings Park, Croftfoot and Newlands, have private front and back gardens with sheds, hedges and lawns. Our depot is on Eastmuir Street in the east end, so no district is a long run.

A garden clearance with us covers whatever is outside and needs to go: hedge and shrub clippings, bagged turf and soil, broken slabs and rubble in bags, rotten fence panels, old decking, garden furniture, barbecues, pots and play equipment that has seen better days. We take sheds down panel by panel and carry everything out through the close or along the side path. You send photos, we agree a rate up front, and on the day the team phones ahead before arriving. Once the truck is loaded, we sweep the ground clear.

Local know-how

Back courts and suburban gardens

Glasgow has two very different kinds of outdoor space, and each one needs its own approach.

One load instead of a dozen trips

Green waste is bulkier than it looks. A single overgrown hedge can fill a car several times over, and a dismantled shed will not fit in a hatchback at all. Our team arrives with a truck and enough people to finish the job in one visit. They bag loose clippings, stack fence panels and decking boards, lift bagged soil and rubble and carry it all out, then sweep the paths and drying area before leaving.

Doing it yourself in Glasgow

Glasgow City Council runs three household waste recycling centres for city residents: Dawsholm in the west, Polmadie on the south side and Shieldhall in the south west. Cars can turn up without booking, but vans are only let in at Shieldhall and Dawsholm, and only at set times. The Easter Queenslie centre in the east end has closed, so east end households now face a longer drive. Everything we collect is sorted at our depot, with green waste sent for composting.

Closes, side paths and drying greens

Tenement back courts are usually reached through a ground floor close, so everything we remove is carried through a shared entrance, and we keep it clean as we go. Suburban jobs bring their own access points: a narrow path beside a semi in Knightswood, a steep front garden on the south side, a lane gate at the bottom of a villa plot in Pollokshields. Mention steps, gates and parking when you send photos and we will plan the team around them.

How it works

Four simple steps

  1. 1

    Send photos

Take a few pictures of the garden, the shed and the way out to the street, and tell us where we can park.

  2. 2

    Agree a rate

We look at the volume, the materials and the access, then give you an up-front rate before any work starts.

  3. 3

    Clear and sweep

The team calls ahead, bags and loads everything, takes down any structures and sweeps the court or paths.

  4. 4

    Sort at the depot

Back at Eastmuir Street, green waste goes for composting while timber, metal and reusable items are separated.

Questions

Glasgow garden clearance FAQs

How do you work out the price of a garden clearance in Glasgow?
There is no fixed price, because no two gardens are alike. The rate depends on how much there is to remove, what it is (soft clippings, heavy soil or a whole shed) and how easy it is to reach, for example a back court through a close or a garden up a flight of steps. Send us photos or book a visit and we will agree an up-front rate before any work starts.
Can you clear a shared tenement back court?
Yes. We clear back courts for residents, landlords and property factors, removing abandoned furniture, mattresses, bags of rubbish and overgrown greenery. It helps if whoever arranges the job has the agreement of the other owners and points out the bins and washing poles, so we only take what should go. If the waste was dumped there by outsiders, our fly-tipping clearance service may be the better fit.
Will you take down an old shed?
Yes. We dismantle timber and metal sheds, remove the panels, roof and floor, and take away whatever was stored inside. The one thing to check first is the roof. Some older sheds and garages in Glasgow have corrugated asbestos cement roofs, which we are not able to remove, so tell us about the roof when you send photos and we will let you know where you stand.
Do I need to be home while you clear the garden?
Not necessarily. If we can reach the garden through a gate or a back court, and we have agreed in advance exactly what goes, you can be at work or away. Landlords and families clearing a relative's home often leave a key with us or a neighbour. We call ahead on the day and leave paperwork for you once the job is complete.
What happens to the green waste you take away?
Every load comes back to our east end depot to be sorted. Grass, hedge clippings and branches go for composting, timber and metal are separated for recycling, and garden furniture in decent condition goes for reuse or to charity. Over 90% of what we collect is reused or recycled, and as a SEPA registered waste carrier we never fly-tip anything.
Do letting agents and landlords use you for gardens?
Often. Gardens are easy to neglect during a tenancy, and an overgrown one can hold up the next let. We clear the garden between tenancies, collect keys from the agent if needed, and leave the ground tidy for the gardener or the incoming tenant. If the flat or house also needs emptying, we can combine the garden with a void clearance of the property.
