Office clearance in Edinburgh

Office and commercial clearances

Edinburgh is around 45 miles from our depot along the M8, and we cover the capital from Glasgow rather than from a local base, so clearances are agreed and planned ahead. The city has an unusual mix of office space. Many firms still work from Georgian townhouses in the New Town and the West End, while larger employers sit in the Exchange district near Lothian Road, around St Andrew Square, at Quartermile, in Leith and out west at Edinburgh Park and South Gyle.

We clear workstations, chairs, cupboards, filing, reception and meeting room furniture, break-out areas, kitchens and stores, along with old computers and confidential paper. After an up-front rate agreed from photos or a survey, the team arrives on the booked date, dismantles what needs taking apart and works through the building floor by floor. IT and paperwork are separated from everything else, and the rest heads back to Glasgow to be sorted for reuse, charity and recycling. We sweep up before leaving and hand over waste transfer paperwork.

  • Planned around your working hours, including evenings and weekends by arrangement
  • Up-front rates agreed before any work starts
  • Desks, chairs, storage and partitions dismantled and removed
  • IT equipment and electricals handled as waste electrical equipment, with secure IT disposal
  • Confidential paperwork kept separate for secure destruction
  • Waste transfer paperwork for your duty of care records
  • Registered waste carrier, uniformed and fully insured team
  • Over 90% of what we collect is reused or recycled

Local know-how

Clearing an office in Edinburgh

What businesses in Edinburgh need to know before clearing an office, and how we keep the job compliant and on schedule.

A single crew, one booked day

Clearing an office a bit at a time is slow and disruptive, especially in a shared building where the lift and the entrance belong to everyone. We plan an Edinburgh clearance so the whole space is emptied by one crew in one visit, with the vehicles sized to the job. That makes it far easier to hit a lease end, the start of a refurbishment or the date your new office opens its doors.

Business waste in the capital

The City of Edinburgh community recycling centres are for household waste, and business or trade waste is refused, so an office cannot use them for a clear-out. Instead your business must use a registered waste carrier and keep waste transfer notes for two years or more as part of its duty of care. Electrical items are WEEE, which must be properly treated, and data on retired IT has to be securely destroyed under data protection law.

Townhouses, closes and business parks

The New Town and Old Town form a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and their offices are often listed buildings with narrow closes, stone stairs, tight doorways and controlled parking. We plan carefully for those and take care around banisters and doorframes. Edinburgh Park, South Gyle and Leith usually offer lifts and loading bays instead. Tell us about parking suspensions, goods entrances and any building management rules at the survey.

Questions

Edinburgh office clearance FAQs

How is an Edinburgh office clearance priced?
We look at how much is going, what kind of items they are and what the building is like to work in, including stairs, lifts, loading and parking controls. Travel from Glasgow is planned into the job. You get an up-front rate from photos, an inventory or a survey, and it is agreed with you before anything is booked or any work starts.
Our office is in a listed New Town building. Is that a problem?
Not at all, but it does need planning. Listed townhouses often have narrow stone stairs, fragile banisters and no lift, and parking can be tightly controlled. We will ask about access at the survey, bring enough people to carry rather than rush, and dismantle large pieces so they come down the stairs safely without damaging the building.
Can you take down partitions and fitted furniture?
Freestanding partition screens, desk dividers, shelving units and storage walls are all dismantled and removed as part of the job. Where a partition is fixed into the building or the lease says it must stay, check with your landlord first and raise it at the survey, and we will tell you honestly whether it falls within what we do.
We have to hand the space back at lease end. When should we book?
As early as you can. Dilapidations work, redecoration and the final inspection often have to happen after the furniture is out, so clear the office well before the date the keys go back. Booking ahead also lets us plan the trip from Glasgow around your timetable rather than trying to squeeze it in.
What happens to old IT equipment?
Computers, monitors, printers, phones and servers are separated as waste electrical equipment and kept away from general waste. Anything that stores data goes through our secure IT and hard drive disposal service so the data is destroyed. Let us know roughly how many devices there are, and whether any equipment is moving to your new office instead.
