House clearance in Battlefield

Your local clearance team

Battlefield takes its name from the Battle of Langside in 1568, and the monument to it still stands at the top of the hill beside Queen's Park. Today it is a compact neighbourhood of three and four storey Victorian and Edwardian tenements, with some townhouses and newer flats, on the south side of Glasgow. From our depot in the east end we head across the river to reach it, and we regularly work in nearby Langside, Mount Florida, Crosshill and Govanhill too.

We clear whole flats, single rooms, lofts and cellars, and we handle executry, end of tenancy and downsizing jobs. It starts with photos or a visit and a rate you agree in advance. The team calls before arriving, dismantles what needs dismantled, takes up flooring if you want it gone, and sweeps the rooms at the end. Everything we remove is driven back to our depot and sorted, with over 90% reused or recycled.

  • We call ahead on the day so you know when to expect us
  • Up-front rates agreed before any work starts
  • Friendly, uniformed and fully insured team
  • Furniture dismantled and carpets lifted
  • Sweep and tidy once the property is empty
  • Over 90% of what we collect is reused or recycled
  • Registered waste carrier, so your waste is handled legally
  • We do not remove asbestos or hazardous waste

Local know-how

Clearing a home in Battlefield

What to know before you clear a property in Battlefield, and why most people find one visit from our team easier than doing it themselves.

Save yourself the runs

Most Battlefield flats are up a stair, so clearing one yourself means carrying every box and chair down several flights before you even start driving. Our crew does the carrying, fills the truck and takes the whole flat away in one visit. You do not have to hire a van, find helpers or work out where each item should go, because sorting it all is our job back at the depot.

Doing it yourself

Polmadie, a short drive from Battlefield, is the nearest Glasgow City Council recycling centre, but it only takes cars. Vans are restricted to Shieldhall and Dawsholm during specific hours, and all three sites are for people who live in Glasgow. No booking is needed in a car, yet a full flat can still mean a dozen trips through the south side traffic.

Tenements and townhouses

Battlefield Road, Sinclair Drive and the streets climbing towards Langside are lined with sandstone tenements, mostly reached by a close and a common stair, along with a handful of period townhouses. Parking can be tight near the hospital and around the shops at Battlefield Rest, so tell us about the street when you get in touch and we will choose the best place for the truck.

Questions

Battlefield house clearance FAQs

How is the cost of a Battlefield clearance worked out?
We look at the volume of belongings, the kind of items involved and the access, including which floor the flat is on and how far the truck is from the close. From photos or a visit we give you a clear rate up front, and that is agreed before any of our team starts work, so you know where you stand.
Do you cover Mount Florida, Langside and Crosshill as well?
Yes. Battlefield sits in the middle of a run of south side neighbourhoods, and we work in all of them, including Langside, Mount Florida, Crosshill, Govanhill, Cathcart and King's Park. We also clear homes in Shawlands, Strathbungo and Newlands to the west, and across the rest of Glasgow.
Is it all right if I am not at the flat on the day?
Of course. Lots of people give us the keys, or leave them with a neighbour, and let us get on with it. We agree in advance what stays and what goes, keep aside anything personal or valuable such as documents, photographs, jewellery or cash, and lock up when we leave. You get the paperwork once the job is finished.
Can you help when a relative has died?
Yes. A large part of our work is clearing homes for families and solicitors after a bereavement. We take our time, keep anything the family wants, and treat the home and its contents with respect. If you are not sure where to begin, our guide to who clears a house when someone dies explains the steps in Scotland.
Will you clear the cellar or storage cupboard in the close?
Yes. Many Battlefield tenements have a cellar, a storage cupboard or a shared loft, and these often hold years of boxes, old bikes and tins of paint. We clear them along with the flat. The one exception is hazardous waste such as paint, chemicals, gas bottles and fuel, which we cannot take, so we will point out anything like that before we start.
