Can you empty a flat on the Promenade with no road outside?
Yes. Where there is no road at the front, we park on the nearest street behind and carry everything through by hand, using the shortest safe route. It adds some time to the job, which we allow for in the rate, so mention it when you send photos. Telling us which stair or entrance to use helps us plan the carry.
Will you take the sofa and armchairs?
Yes. We take sofas, armchairs, footstools and other upholstered seating, but we keep them whole and away from the rest of the load. Scottish rules on persistent organic pollutants mean these items have to be sent for a specific type of treatment, so they cannot simply go in with general waste. You do not need to do anything special to prepare them.
Where do the things you remove end up?
Everything goes back to our depot in Glasgow, where it is sorted by hand. Furniture and household items in good order go for reuse or to charity, metals, wood, textiles and electricals are recycled, and only what cannot be saved goes for disposal. Over 90% of what we collect is reused or recycled, and as a SEPA registered waste carrier nothing is fly-tipped.
